Lensbaby Project {February}

February's theme was Love.
Appropriate, I think.
I have to admit that I struggled a bit with this.
How was I going to capture love?
Here is how I decided to do it.
I love my Dunkin Donuts

This was one of the few snows we got.
(love the snow)

More snow on the windshield.
(you all must think I spend all my time in the car)

Love my Christmas Cactus that is still blooming.

I love the brightly colored flowers in my kitchen.

I love that I have discovered painting.

And I have saved the best for last.
I LOVE  that my son wanted me to cut this open and
take a picture!

Please move through and take look at the work from these amazing women!

Focus on Life - Week 8 {Monochromatic}

I love this!
Black and White photos can be so very
striking. Evoking so many thoughts
and feelings.

My weeks are crazed, so when I get a chance to pick
up my camera, I love it. Although these moments
are few and brief.

When my son and hubby decided to build models together,
I immediately grabbed my camera.

And I just couldn't resist my fresh tulips!

I know that I am carrying on, but here are two more
of my favorite from last spring.

Sorry for all the photos, I love B&W and monochromatic.

Please hop on over Studio Sublime and see what
beautiful shots everyone is sharing.

Thank you Sally!
(I have to say, I can't wait to see what each week's prompt is!)

PS - if any of you can tell me why, when I shot in B/W, they came through
in color in LR when I edited them, that would rock.

Focus on Life - Week 7 {Beauty of Flowers}

The Beauty of Flowers

I love flowers, they are so beautiful and happy.
I try to have flowers in my kitchen each week, they
just make me smile.
And smiling is good!

The sunlight was coming through one of our windows in the
family room and it was wonderful.

My Christmas Cactus ~ early February!
Love this.

I also has these really fun, bright, colorful
daisy's in my kitchen that I wanted a shot of.

I blew the lighting, yet LOVE the way it came out.
Believe it or not, no editing.
This is SOOC.
(straight out of the camera)

Funky!
(will I ever be able to re-create? probably not)
:)

Speaking of camera's, I am feeling really overwhelmed with
the prospect of everything I have to do to get up and running,
it is somewhat paralyzing!
Small steps, small steps.

Please hop over to Sally's blog to see how everyone else is
celebrating the Beauty of Flowers.

Focus on Life - Week 6 {Feel the Love}

Week 6 on this fun, fun journey is to
Feel the Love!

It is February and love is in the air.
It was a tough week for me, under the weather, so
this picture was not taken this week.

That being said, this picture strikes such a cord in my heart.
My 18 y/o daughter left for college in August and we didn't
see her until Parents Weekend in late October
(think the weekend just before Hurricane Sandy)
Her leaving was so unbelievably joyous, so very
proud of her, yet it left a hole in my heart.

A space that I am not sure will ever be filled.

My 14 y/o son misses her, alot.
Although he would never admit it.
And, I think that she misses him.

I shot this picture as they were walking away from us.

The two of them.
Talking.
Being brother and sister.

In that moment, a small part of that hole healed.

Family.
Love.
Together.
Whole.
Joy.

So, while it was not taken this week,
to me, this is love.

Please visit Sally's blog and see how
everyone else saw love this week.

Thank you, Sally, for this wonderful adventure!!!

Focus on Life - week 5 {Capture our Hearts}

Hello again~
I know, blogging has not been my strong
suit so far this year.  I will work on getting better.

Sally of Studio Sublime is taking us on a
wonderful journey this year.
52 weeks of  exploring and photographing!

I am loving this.

This week's prompt was
Capturing our Hearts.

We were to find hearts everywhere.

Here are a few I found right off the bat.

Loved the title of this book in Target.

Sorry for the blur,
in my grocery store.
Clearly my iPhone is struggling or I am moving
too fast. :)

And, while this is not current, it is from last April
when my daughter let me come with her to photograph
she and her friends at the
University of Maryland's Holi Celebration.

I had no idea what I had taken until I say the photo.

Might quite possibly be one of my favorite photos of all time!

Please hop on over to Sally's blog
and see where others captured hearts this week.
