Focus on Life - Week 6 {Feel the Love}

Week 6 on this fun, fun journey is to
Feel the Love!

It is February and love is in the air.
It was a tough week for me, under the weather, so
this picture was not taken this week.

That being said, this picture strikes such a cord in my heart.
My 18 y/o daughter left for college in August and we didn't
see her until Parents Weekend in late October
(think the weekend just before Hurricane Sandy)
Her leaving was so unbelievably joyous, so very
proud of her, yet it left a hole in my heart.

A space that I am not sure will ever be filled.

My 14 y/o son misses her, alot.
Although he would never admit it.
And, I think that she misses him.

I shot this picture as they were walking away from us.

The two of them.
Talking.
Being brother and sister.

In that moment, a small part of that hole healed.

Family.
Love.
Together.
Whole.
Joy.

So, while it was not taken this week,
to me, this is love.

Please visit Sally's blog and see how
everyone else saw love this week.

Thank you, Sally, for this wonderful adventure!!!

Love between siblings is so beautiful and as a parent of grown children it is one of my greatest comforts to know they will always have each other. I hope time will heal up that missing feeling you have with your daughter gone.

Oh, such a sweet picture. It must be hard on all of you these life-changing events. But it looks like you have built a strong foundation so never how far they roam, your home will always be home base.

Siblings never want to admit how much they miss each other. At least not at that age. Such a great shot

We raise our kids to be strong, and independent, but those apron strings are surely attached to our hearts. Beautiful picture and hoping you have many more wonderful moments like it.

Hope she's having a wonderful time at university! I think it really is the best years of your life... especially if your parents are paying for it!

What a touching picture, Courtney. I remember when I met you, your daughter was getting ready to head to college...I think you had recently been out shopping for her dorm. Even then I felt for you, imagining what it would be like to have your oldest leave and head to college - and out of state! I can only imagine how tough and can understand that hole in your heart. I do hope you have many, many reunions....and that you will stay as close but in a new way. So thankful for today's technology compared to when we were in college!

Your words and photo caught be totally by surprise and the tears just started to pour down my face. This really is love. I now feel a hole in my heart for my son, who's an only child, because I know how precious my siblings are to me. This is a beautiful photography you captured - and an even more beautiful memory!!
