I have started saving for a SLR camera but have no idea what I should be looking at. I would love to hear your thoughts about what is wonderful ~ bodies, lenses, make etc. Please, please, please. Thank you all!
I have been going through this same decision for over a year now, I asked everyone I saw what they used, how they liked it etc. and finally it clicked when the new nikon d7000 was announced in sept. I have it preordered with amazon and the reviews are fantastic, can't wait to get my hands on it! Good luck!
If you're buying the SLR for shooting photos of your jewelry, check into a Nikon P90. It has better close-ups than you can get with any SLR without a lot of special lenses. It's what I use and it's moderately priced. Not that I'm trying to discourage you from getting a nice SLR ... had one and it doesn't do what the simple P90 does for close-ups.

I love cannon. I had the digital rebel a long time ago and now have the 30D. Excellent cameras.
