Ta Da!

How many of us have waited for this day to arrive? Ok, apart from the last minute panic of getting pieces done....how many of us have waited for today! :)

362 people participating!
Wonderful.

Superwoman Extraordinaire!
Thank you Lori, for this amazing party.

Ok, ok. Without further ado.......
Here are the ingredients that Joanna Matuszczyk sent me.
I immediately fell in love with the focal. So light, summery and fun.
The clasp is beautiful also. She sent me flowers! I love flowers.
Purple is my favorite color!
Thank you Joanna.

Here is the completed piece.
Now in this post here I talked about how the ideas were flowing, absolutely flowing and how I had almost disastrous results.

I tried to wire wrap a few things, two different ways. Purple wire! It didn't work out so well. I will share that at the end.

See how beautiful the clasp lays - so pretty.
I knew that there would be silver chain in this - coordinates with the clasp.
Now, Joanna did send ribbon and I tried and tried, but just couldn't seem to
make it work. It all looked ugly. Ugly I tell you. The ribbon would have been a
step out of my box, but I couldn't seem to leave the box.......

I strung/wire wrapped flowers and a few drops/beads on chain and the wire wrapped these wonderful green squares.

Love these green squares.

Such a great piece.
I did my usual sit, touch, play, move, walk away, shop for a few more ideas, sit,
touch routine and have to say that this came really easily for me.
It must be the great beads that Joanna sent me.

I managed to save two of the green beads to make earrings with.
I love the color combo, the clear flowers and those green squares!

Now, for my almost disaster. I was wire wrapping beads around the frame of my focal,
and it snapped in half! HALF.
I promptly hollered for my daughter to come down.
She came running, must have been the tone of my scream.
With tears in my eyes, I handed her the pieces and told her to "fix it".
SHE DID!
She glued, painted and sprayed and you can barely tell that it broke.
Thank you Caroline!

THANK YOU LORI!
You  have gone above and beyond to organize all 362 of us.

I am SO sorry for being late — today our internet provider decided to crash. My stress level is through the roof, to say the least! They’re still working on it, but it’s like dial-up.

Oh I know about trying to get ribbon or ANY fiber to cooperate. It's like everyone else in the world has something else and I just can't seem to do it!

And I've had that SNAP experience, too, but most of my snaps have been unfixable. I'm so glad yours was! It looks great!

I hope you’ll participate again!

Love, Lori

Courtney, what a great post. I enjoyed reading about your process, including going back to your previous post from when you first got your beads and excitedly ran to the bead store. I think your necklace is beautiful & I'm so relieved for you that your daughter was able to fix the focal...can't even tell anything was amiss!

Very nice use of the components you received.

Dear Courtney,
I truly love your creations. The necklace is so delicate and feminine. Dangles are so pretty! And matching earings. Wonderful!
Sorry about the focal :( It was so fragile and delicate.
Hope you will try to use those ribbons somehow. Not necessarily in jewelry creations;)
Thank you for being my partner!
Big hugs!
Joanna

It's interesting to see how many people used fibre/ribbons in wonderful bead soup projects, but I'm with you, they take me out of my comfort zone. You made a beautiful necklace and I'm glad you were able to save your pendant.

What a wonderful summery, flowery piece. So glad you were able to fix the focal. It all ties together very well. The ribbon would have been great with it, but I like the piece just the way you made it.

Noemi said...

Oh Courtney. How horrible!! I can't believe your focal piece snapped in two!!
It is a good thing your daughter Caroline could fix it. If you didn't tell we would have not known.
as for your necklace, it is great. I love the way you have set those beautiful green squares. And those charm flowers are so pretty.

Lyn Foley Lampwork said...

Nicely done ( and I don't think you needed the ribbon either). And I like the matching earrings.

I love what you did with your bead soup! those green beads are just yummy!

Lovely necklace, Courtney! I find textiles really difficult to use too (to make them look as though they really belonged there) so I'm going to challenge myself this time to START with the textile instead of adding it in later. I'm sure the green ribbon will be the start of something wonderful....

Anonymous said...

I can understand the pain that ribbon can give... I tried several time to use it, but nothing.
It's not in our destiny, luckily that necklace was! I am very happy that you fix the focal, the completed piece is very nice!
